Saddlers

Saraci or saddlers belong to the oldest and one of the most important crafts. The saddlers were mentioned for the first time in 1489 and have survived up to nowadays. Previously, they made horse-equipment, travelers' equipment, as well as wooden-soled scuffs (nanule) and opanke (Bosnian peasant footwear). Today, they chiefly make equipment for dogs and leather fancy goods, but they continued to make traditional products (wooden-soled scuffs, shopping bags and slippers) as well. They also carry out repairs to leather goods.
