Telali Street is located in the heart of the Old Town, in the vicinity of Baščaršija Square.

This street was laid out in 1863 at the command of the Bosnian governor, Topal Osman Pasha. It was first called Osman Pasha’s Street, but was better known as Nova Cesta. In 1885 it was named after the street criers, telali, who would announce the sale of old goods. In 1919 it was named after the writer, Petar Kočić, and then Telali was used once again from 1941 to 1945, after which it was given the name Kočićeva Street. The old name, Telali, was restored in 1993.
